Life and career

• 1954: Born in Essen


• 1981: Doctor's degree in Law at the University of Hamburg, including a one year Young Scientists' Exchange Programme at Lomonossov University, Moscow as Assistant Professor


• 1983: Dr. Hans Janus joins Euler Hermes as a member of the Legal Department. He is active in a variety of management positions in the fields of political claims and rescheduling agreements under the government export guarantee scheme which Euler Hermes administers on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany


• 1992: Head of International Relations and Research Division with main emphasis on the harmonisation of export credit guarantees within the EU


• 1994: Dr. Hans Janus is appointed to the Board of Management of Euler Hermes Deutschland AG


• 2003-2005: Dr. Hans Janus is appointed President of Berne Union - International Union of Credit and Investment Insurers, London
